A sporting month. Football, rugby and golf in St Andrews… along with music, friends and good food! What more could you ask for?

October was a quieter month, it started getting cold here, between 10 and 14 degrees (Celsius) most days…. although the sun was out so often it was quite beautiful! There was a big football game on here on the 4th of October between the two Glasgow teams, Rangers and Celtics. We went to watch at a supposedly Rangers hangout, but when we got there – there were more Celtics supporters than Rangers fans – good thing for us cause Celtics won!

That was the weekend that Jorge came to stay…. if you remember our Mexican friend who we met in Montreal? well, he has moved to Edinburgh to do his Masters degree! so he is now only 1hour away… that weekend our Dim Sum hunt led us to a new & excellent chinese restaurant…

Michelle finally played in St Andrews – the home of Golf! she has been very tight lipped on her score, but she was so excited and the photos look great! That night we went to see Elvis Costello at the concert hall doing an acoustic set, it was really great. An old friend of mine, Stan, from Sydney is working with him, looking after his guitars, so we met with him after the show for some gossip on Elvis and Diana Krall!!! like you do!

More importantly it’s been the start of the RUGBY world cup. We found a great aussie pub downtown – Walkabout – full of Aussies, where we could watch the games live, drink good Australian beer, eat Meat Pies and Chicken Chips!!! yeah! Because of the time difference we would tend to be there at 8am to watch the game on a weekend, drunk by lunchtime…. it was a great 6-8 weeks… I’ve never watched so much sport in my life!

We travelled to Mallorca together for a weekend, which is an island off the coast of Spain. That was lovely, we watched the rugby in the sun, in the afternoon…. did some swimming.. reading… eating and generally lazing about. Michelle also went to California, Santa Barbara for work, along with her regular trips to London, Bristol, Paris and Oslo – a very busy month.
