March Updates…
March was a busy month with our first Montreal visitor! So many restaurants, bars and clubs to discover in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Paris….

…i’m exhausted!…
Well… another month gone by. I last wrote just before we set off for Iceland at the end of February. We had a fabulous time took lots of pictures, met some wonderful people and swore we’d be back, hopefully in the summer. For anyone planning to visit the UK, you should look into flights with Iceland Air. A stopover in Reykjavik is a must – even if it is just to change planes, they whisk you off in a bus to the Blue Lagoon for a swim and relax in the heated mineral pools, what a way to start or end a vacation.
We did another hillwalk earlier in the month, which for those of us who take the easier route, didn’t consist of many hills. It was mainly a 10 mile walk by a loch, which was actually very beautiful, ending up in the botanical gardens out near Loch Lomond. The others of course (including Michelle) climbed a very steep cliff face on their knees only to get to the top and not be able to see 2 feet in front of them due to the fog…. I understand they enjoyed the challenge anyway!
We have a Hillwalking weekend coming up this weekend in the Lakes District in England where we will be staying in a hotel in Keswick with the hillwalking club and choosing walks to do on both Saturday and Sunday. We’ll send you some photos when we get back.
Yesterday we said goodbye to Stephane who was here visiting over the last two weeks. We tried many new restaurants and bars and met lots of new people in Glasgow, thanks to Stephanes gregarious personality and willingness to speak to everyone, all the time! We introduced him to Rugby with the game France vs Scotland in the 6 Nations tournament held here in Edinburgh. We took the train from Glasgow to Edinburgh to watch the match in a pub over there with Jorge and some other Edinburgh locals, sadly it was an atrocious loss to France, however after a dozen or so pints I’m not sure anyone noticed!
We also brought Stephane along with us to Paris last weekend. We had a lovely time. Again lots of wonderful restaurants, plenty of confit canard and good wine and 4 days of great memories. We discovered some very cool bars as well as doing some obligatory touristy things, like eating tarte au citron from Fauchon, strudel in the Marais….. oh, and seeing Montmartre, Tuillieries etc…
…so 4kgs heavier and armed with a more in-depth knowledge of the restaurants and clubs of Glasgow than ever before, we wish Steph a safe journey home and look forward to his next trip later in the year. I’ll attach some photos below.
Now it’s time to go back on the diet, and return to the gym…
The coming few weeks will also be quite busy. Michelle left today for Oslo, she’s back for our hillwalking weekend, then away again to Grenoble in France and then Orlando for a conference. I’m going to take advantage of this time and go and visit my dad and his family in the south of france. We wont be back in Glasgow until around April 19th and by then it should well and truly be spring. We changed our clocks last weekend, so it is now light until 8pm and with sunny days it’s gorgeous!
Hopefully we’ll hear more from you over the next months, what’s happening in your lives?
P.S. my competition entries have been going well, this month I won a pair of trendy ‘Art’ shoes for Michelle (not that she needs anymore shoes), tickets to see Jeff Mills the DJ and a bottle of wine worth 98 pounds! not quite the million dollars we’re after, but still…
