date…
So, better late than never, no?
Do you remember back in August when I went for a tour of the Glasgow Council Chambers I gave myself a challenge to get invited to a “do” in the formal ballroom? Well, I took the challenge very seriously, and I told everyone I knew, and everyone that I met – about wanting to be invited…. and, it paid off.
Last Friday, a guy that works with Michelle, whom I met on our last hillwalking weekend away in Newtonmore – had remembered my challenge and discussed it with his wife – who, wait for it, works for Glasgow Council and who kindly procured for us 4(!) tickets to a civic reception happening in the ballroom Sunday night after the official lighting of the christmas lights in George Square.
So that’s where we went. We stood out in the rain listening to the music, doing the countdown with thousands of others to the switching on of the lights, watched the beautiful but never-ending fireworks display (they use our council tax for this?), and then we trundled indoors and celebrated with finger food and refreshments along with another 200 or so guests.
Magic.
When it was all over, we came home to give a run-down to Francis who had decided not to join us, and sat down to watch an excellent episode of Top Gear!
What a lovely wet Sunday evening!
