We used to travel on a budget without ever having made a budget – if you know what I mean. I would know how much we had to spend and we’d spend it. No more. I’ve always been like that – spent what’s in my pocket, never been one to save for anything. These days we budget for everything, I write down every penny we spend, both here and abroad. It doesnt seem to make any difference though, in fact it seems like we spend more all the same, only now we have a record of exactly where it’s gone! How is that possible?

Anyway, I’ve just calculated what we spent on our latest trip to Australia and Singapore. It’s obscene. Sadly, I think things are going to have to change. One day we’d like to have a house by the sea, somewhere, anywhere, and we’re going to have to start saving…

We’ll start next year. We’ve got too many trips planned for this year already!
