swift conclusions
According to this I should probably be dismissed as “just another hopelessly narcissistic individual with too much time and technology”….
I find it sadly condescending that someone who gets paid to write feels that a blogger who writes because they want to, for a myriad of reasons, should be dismissed as “hopelessly narcissistic”.
And this from a writer who manages to move me with his honest an almost intimate writing on race and cultural differences.
How depressing.
I definitely don’t agree with this, not in your case anyway. I find that Thanks to Technology (and your patience), we (your friends) can keep track of your life abroad. There may be some instances where the blog is not relevant but yours is very well done, well written and always interesting.
I am thankful for this invention. Please keep it up!
Louise
I guess that this person missed a lot or did not read you and did not understand your intention. It is more than a dairy,it is a way to communicate, get some news from both of you, discover new cities, countries through your pictures and compte-rendu of your trips. I really enjoy reading you and beleive that what you are doing is a wonderfull way to make use of the technology.
Keep it up.
I agree with Louise and Roger. I love reading your site. Tell that person, the writer that he/she doesn’t know what people want.
“Balls to this commentary”, this is the best way i’ve seen to keep in touch with your worldly friends/relatives and keep us highly ENTERTAINED ON TOP OF IT ALL. I would be lost without a read on this site once in a while…it is great reading and a lot of fun indeed. Ignore this E.
I read it(past tense, not to be read again!!) and have forgotten it already!! It’s far too critical of the whole process…Keep up the great work!!
The author of that commentary can go eat a big bowl of haggis, with a big side dish of bollocks.
If you were putting negative things about friends/people in your blog (i.e. “Roger got so drunk that evening that I had to undress him and tuck him in for the night”)then maybe one could complain.
Spot-on, Ian. Your blog keeps us close even though we’re miles away. It allows us all to live vicariously through your journeys and adventures. It’s always entertaining and well written. Though I don’t get to visit it nearly as often as I wish, I thoroughly enjoy every single read. So … bollocks to this wet blanket. Perhaps he/she doesn’t have any friends that want to keep up with his/her escapades. Jealousy is a terrible thing.
