Wonderland

I went to see Wonderland today. I was at the 11.20am session, which I’ll subsequently rename the “Pensioner” session, as there was so many of them. What was even stranger was that there were lots of them going in to see “Wonderland”.

I couldn’t imagine why… it’s not really a pensioner kind of film. At least that’s what I thought. Although, what do I know about the movie tastes of pensioners?

Anyway. The movie was ok. A bit bloody and vicious. But then again, I guess murder, drugs and guns tend to do that. Amazing story. The only thing I ever knew about John Holmes was, well, you know, his legend. I had no idea about the Wonderland killings, nor his drug habit, nor his wife, or his death to AIDS. You see, you could almost file this under ‘Educational’.

Normally I really detest Val Kilmer. I don’t think he can act to save himself, but he wasn’t too bad in this. About the same caliber as when he played Jim Morrison.

I wouldn’t put it up as a must-see, but if you have a spare couple of hours and are curious, it’s ok. The Guardian has an entertaining yet scathing review…
