saturday rituals
Today was farmers market day in the west end. It’s on every second Saturday and it’s my favorite time of the week. I’ve started to get to know the producers, and some of them even know me by name, although for the life of me, I cannot remember theirs.
I usually start with a latte before, then stop and try a new restaurant on Byres Rd afterwards.
Today was no different. I got some luverly lamb shanks for a dinner party tonight with some friends who are over from Paris. And for lunch we stopped at Arisaig.
Now this has been a restaurant I’ve wanted to try for some time, although yesterday I was reliably(!) informed that it had gone down hill lately. Apparantly there was a review in the popular rag just last week that said so! Me, I hate bad reviews. I generally don’t trust them unless I’ve read a few that all agree that whatever it is – is bad – or, of course, if it suits me to believe it. This applies to everything – movies, restaurants, books etc.
Anyway, I’m sorry to say that I have never been before, but if this was going downhill then it must have surely been amazing before, because we both had a fabulous lunch. Great meal, perfect portion size, reasonable price and Rangers vs Celtics on the telly.
What more could one want on a Saturday afternoon??
