A grey extra
I have a new sideline as an ‘extra’. I had my first call out yesterday for a costume fitting. I get the feeling it’s going to be lots of fun. I was prodded and poked and fitted into a corset and big flouncy dress, boots and bonnet for my two roles – first as a ‘passer-by’ in the old town, the second as a ‘passenger’ on a stage coach. The second was whispered in revered tones as it was a ‘continuation part’. Meaning I would need to come back another day and wear the same things and look the same(!). Big deal, right?
Sounded good to me. I was told the day before that filming would be over the next 2 weeks so hey… I was getting paid to attend the fitting, plus 2 days extra work. Great. Sure, sounds good to me.
Then, when I was leaving I was informed that I probably wouldn’t do the second part of my ‘continuation’ part until mid December – and therefore DON’T CHANGE! What??? I have to leave my hair like this until MID DECEMBER???
Now that I think of it the extra 60 quid hardly seems worth it. I’ll have to go to all the xmas parties and nights out with my distinguished grey making an unwelcome partner. Damn!
Nevermind. My new life as an extra is just beginning…
